Revisiting the Orphanages of Belarus at the moment is an extremely dangerous proposition right now, with the war in Ukraine and that is why IODP and its supporters and volunteers are doing all they can from Ireland, and elsewhere to continue to support the orphanages during this time of severe political turmoil and uncertainty.
Belarus, officially the Republic of Belarus, and historically Byelorussia, is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe. It is bordered by Russia to the east and northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest.
At the current moment with the ongoing attack on Ukraine by Russia, visits to this area would be fraught with extreme and unnecessary danger to life.
However, the people of Ukraine, Belarus and the orphanages of Belarus are firmly in the hearts and minds of IODP and their volunteers who look forward to returning when peace returns to the area.
